Christmas Carnival!
Come on out to the Indoor Christmas Carnival for our Bayside Church Family on Saturday December 20th at 6pm (inside the Pioneer High School cafeteria). Bring your youthful heart and kids, too! This will be a fun family event for all ages celebrating Christmas! Let’s get together this season to laugh, snack, play, and chat. Do you sew, cook, love to have fun, or have disposable dinnerware to spare? Then sign up to donate towards or serve at the event! We also need contestants for our crockpot and dessert contests, $1 prize donations (from Walmart, Party City, Target, etc.), and energetic people to run and/or build a game booth. Contact Janeen Barbarick at 707-685-1199 for more info about the event or to sign up to volunteer.

Christmas Eve Service
Join us for a candlelight Christmas Eve service in the Pioneer High School cafeteria at 5pm. Bring your family and friends! Kids are welcome in the service, and we will also have Children’s ministry available for kids aged 6 weeks to 3 years.

Tips (from IRS) for Year-End Charitable Gifts:
In order to deduct any donation of money on a tax return, a taxpayer must have a bank record or a written statement from the charity, regardless of amount.  Bank records include canceled checks, and bank, credit union and credit card statements.  Bank or credit union statements should show the name of the charity, the date, and the amount paid.  Credit card statements should show the name of the charity, the date, and the transaction posting date. In addition, a taxpayer must obtain an acknowledgment from a charity for each deductible donation or $250 or more.

Contributions are deductible in the year made.  Donations charged to a credit card before the end of 2014 count for 2014, even if the credit card bill isn't paid until 2015.  Also, checks count for 2014 as long as they are mailed in 2014.

Congress has just extended the provision to allow tax free distributions for charitable purposes from IRAs of taxpayers 701/2 or older.  If you still need to take your required minimum distribution for 2014 and would like to donate part or all of it to Bayside Woodland, you can have the amount you wish to donate directly sent to Bayside Woodland.  Although you will not be able to deduct the amount sent to Bayside Woodland as a charitable contribution, neither will you have to include the distribution in your income for 2014.
