2 Chronicles 10-12; John 11:30-57
I LOVE last-second victories.
And God is truly the master of them.
Time and again he rescues his people at the last second:
He Opened the Red Sea at the last second to save Israel from Pharaoh.
He provided a last-second sacrifice to save Isaac from being killed.
He empowered David to snatch victory from defeat by killing Goliath.
But God has a way of one-upping even the best buzzer-beater.
Sometimes God waits “too long.”
He did it with Daniel. Save him from the Lion’s den?
Nope. He got thrown in.
He did it with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
Save them from the fiery furnace?
Nope. They got thrown in.
God let things get totally out of hand – then He rescued:
Daniel from the Lions, and the 3 young men from the fire.
But Jesus saved the BEST for LAST.
His good friend LAZARUS was terribly sick – Did Jesus rush to heal him?
Nope. Jesus let Lazarus DIE.
He waited “too long.”
He let things get totally out of hand – then He rescued – once again.
So why doesn’t God rescue me from trouble – BEFORE things get out of hand?
Because Buzzer-beaters display His power, grow my faith, and cause others to
believe.
SO – next time you seethe clock winding down on a BAD situation – remember, and
TRUST the God who is MASTER of last-second victories. 3…..2…..1……
See you tomorrow!

That’s a hard thing to accept. I’d much prefer to have the solution clearly defined as soon as I see the problem rather than having to suffer a bit and have my faith stretched.
The truth is that we have no real faith unless it stands up to adversity during the testing periods.
It’s not faith when there’s no real trial.
