Program Details

The Woodland Shelter aims to assist Fourth & Hope by providing additional housing for homeless families and women during the winter, providing a safe and warm place to sleep. Volunteers are essential to the program and there are many opportunities for participation. Just a few hours of time can make a big difference for the local homeless community! Each week is hosted by a different church. Participants can sign up for any day they are available. A Fourth & Hope employee will be present at all shifts. Types of shifts include:

  • Morning/Evening Drivers - transport participants between Fourth & Hope & St. Luke's
  • Evening Monitors - Check in participants, interact with participants, set out snacks
  • Overnight Monitors (volunteers can sleep) - Assist Fourth & Hope employee if needed, assist getting participants ready to go in the morning
  • Weekly shifts: Activity hosts, snacks, clearning, laundering sleeping bags
